The Earth Elders, World Over Here, Tiger Nest Films, and Mudland are thrilled to announce Earth Elders, a feature documentary exploring the mission of Grand Council of the Eagle and Condor in protecting Earth’s biodiversity and biocultural heritage. Earth Elders is among the 8 selected projects for the Movies that Matter Take on Film & Impact Lab and will be pitching for impact at the Hague this Spring.
At the heart of the film is a “calling for unity in diversity, rooted in the Original Instructions, the language of the land, and the intelligence of nature,” the Elders explain, “To truly understand what this means is to comprehend, and to act. The struggles taking place today are fierce, and they call us to become aware of what has happened and what is still happening. Through our unity, across cultures, cosmologies, and lineages, we can guide the transformations unfolding for both humanity and the planet.” The team behind the co-production are celebrating the potential that this lab has in amplifying the film’s message to reach as wide an audience as possible.
Earth Elders follows the journeys of Original People from Brazil, Argentina, Southern Africa, East Asia, and Mexico, sharing their wisdom and ancestral knowledge while engaging with global audiences, governments, and institutions. The film captures not only the challenges these communities face in protecting their lands, rights and ancestral ways, but also the profound, interconnected solutions embedded in Indigenous knowledge systems.
“History has deeply marked our societies, but change happens when we truly connect,” added the Elders, emphasising that, “this is why we come together in shared work, in Buen Vivir (good living), and collective activation. We honor each other as humans, as part of life and community. In this way, we show the unification process as an energetic force, acknowledging the ancestors while affirming that we are one in diversity.”
Movies that Matter Take on Film & Impact Lab will provide strategic support to the filmmakers, helping Earth Elders amplify its message globally, strengthen outreach and engagement strategies, and realise its impact potential in communities worldwide.
