Europe Democracy Lab
Europe stands at a critical juncture for the future of its democratic values, with rising populism, border regimes, and social fragmentation challenging the inclusive ideals it espouses.
In response, the Mudland Democracy Lab has launched a dedicated initiative focused on Europe, centring the experiences of migrants, diasporic communities, and those navigating systemic exclusion. Through this project, the Lab seeks to document and interrogate the evolving landscape of democracy across the continent, while fostering spaces for cultural expression, civic participation, and cross-border solidarity. By amplifying underrepresented voices and building creative alliances, the Lab aims to contribute to a more inclusive and resilient democratic future for Europe.
The Europe Democracy Lab is currently in development, and we are actively seeking partnerships, collaborators, and co-creators to help shape this evolving initiative. We welcome engagement from artists, researchers, grassroots organisers, civil society actors, and institutions invested in reimagining democracy through culture, care, and participation. If you are working at the intersection of migration, media, and civic action in Europe — we would love to hear from you.
